Interview with TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady which focuses on economic and workplace democracy, and argues that the campaign for greater workers’ voice is particularly relevant given the ignominious performance of shareholder-based forms of corporate governance. Workers’ involvement in managing companies will enable the unions to play a strong part in putting forward an alternative to share-holder dominance in the economy. This in turn will help maintain the position of unions more widely, as they become a stronger part of the emerging alternative to neoliberalism.
