Michael Symons

Michael Symons is an independent scholar. A former journalist and restaurateur with a PhD in the sociology of cuisine (Flinders, 1992), he has taught and researched at universities in Australia and New Zealand. His publications include A History of Cooks and Cooking (2000), One Continuous Picnic: A Gastronomic History of Australia (1982/2007), and Meals Matter: A Radical Economics through Gastronomy (2020).
