Game discusses Bondi as a site of national identity and signifier of the Australian ‘outdoors’, showing how its meaning has changed over time, how it varies according to standpoint, and how it embodies a series of oppositions (sea/land; culture/nature; city/bush; profane/sacred; commerce/community) - none of which is weighted to deliver the ‘last word’ on the place.
