Marx & Engels Collected Works Vol 42
Marx and Engels:1864-1868
Volume 42 contains the letters of Marx and Engels to each other and to third persons from October 1864 to March 1868. This period is marked by the two most important events in the history of the international working-class and communist movement – the foundation of the International Working Men’s Association (the First International) and the publication of Volume One of Capital. The letters show how Marx and Engels theoretical work was closely linked with the working-class movement. The letters deal with the state of the movement, major international events and political life of different countries; they also illuminate the personalities and characters of Marx and Engels, on the specific features of their work, the conditions under which they lived and in particular on their remarkable friendship.
