Marx & Engels Collected Works Vol 05
Marx and Engels:1845-1847
Volume 5 contains The German Ideology a major joint work of Marx and Engels, together with the writings immediately connected with it, particularly the Economic Manuscripts of 1857-58, better known under the editorial heading Grundisse der Kritik der Politischen Okonomie . The German Ideology marked a decisive stage in the working out of the philosophical and sociological theory of scientific communism. It was in this work that the materialist conception of history, or historical materialism, was first formulated as an integral theory. The volume begins with Marx’s famous Thesis on Feuerbach which Engels said contained ‘the brilliant germ of a new world outlook’.
