My Labour, New Labour, Twenty-First Century Labour

The aim of All the Pits Have Closed is to explain the need for the Labour Party to continue to move in a forward direction. The starting point is My Labour, by which I mean what makes me Labour through experience and belief. New Labour came about because My Labour was eventually not enough. The lessons of New Labour, stripped of its personalities, are the means by which we must propel ourselves forward into the twenty-first century; they teach us we must change again. It is incumbent upon our broad church Labour Party to define that change.
My Labour faced the need to change and New Labour did that too. The future is ours only if we are bold in our beliefs, in our policies, in our organisation and in ourselves. Our challenge is to become a labour movement once more fit for the twenty-first century.
